Ready-to-use format
Gibco® PB-MAX™ Karyotyping Medium is a frozen, 1X medium, ready to use upon thawing. No supplementation is required. Thawed medium can be stored at 2–8°C for up to 14 days.

Quality and performance testing
Every lot of Gibco® PB-MAX™ Karyotyping Medium is performance tested by a certified US reference cytogenetics laboratory to ensure consistently superior performance. Peripheral blood lymphocytes from a normal adult donor are cultured for 72 hours in Gibco® PB-MAX™ Karyotyping Medium before measuring the mitotic index and chromosome banding resolution. In addition, each lot is tested for sterility, pH, osmolality, and mycoplasma.

Classic formulation
Gibco® PB-MAX™ Karyotyping Medium is an optimized RPMI 1640 medium, supplemented with Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS), L-glutamine, and phytohemagglutinin (PHA). Gibco® PB-MAX™ Karyotyping Medium is based on formulations referenced in the Association for Cytogenetic Technologists Laboratory Manual for the culture of peripheral blood lymphocytes for cytogenetic analysis. MAGPIX™ Drive Fluid Plus Invitrogen™

MAGPIX Drive Fluid Plus is the delivery medium for transporting the sample being analyzed on the Luminex MAGPIX system to the optic components. Each unit in the 4-pack of drive fluid contains 700 mL.

This reformulated sheath product replaces the original MAGPIX Drive Fluid (Cat. No. MPXDF4PK). The new sheath formulation is updated from a single preservative to a mixture of three preservatives to allow for greater transit stability and to reduce the likelihood of future acquired microbial resistance.

Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) is a balanced salt solution that is used for a variety of cell culture applications, such as washing cells before dissociation, transporting cells or tissue samples, diluting cells for counting, and preparing reagents. Concentrated forms of Gibco® PBS may require pH adjustment at the time of dilution (see protocol for details).
