E-Gel® 48 Agarose Gels are pre-cast, ready-to-use, 48-well agarose gels designed for medium-throughput resolution of DNA fragments. Each gel contains 48 sample wells and 4 marker wells in 1%, 2%, or 4% high-resolution agarose with a 3.2 cm run length. The various agarose percentages are used to separate DNA fragments of different sizes:

1% agarose gels—DNA fragments between 400 bp and 10 kb
2% agarose gels—DNA fragments between 50 bp and 3 kb
4% agarsoe gels—DNA fragments between 10 bp and 400 bp

Using E-Gel® 48 Gels
Load the E-Gel® 48 gel with a multi-channel pipettor or robotic liquid handling systems for increased throughput. E-Gel® 48 gels run in mother and daughter E-Base™ integrated power supplies. DNA bands resolve clearly (see figure) in just 20 minutes.

E-Gel™ 96 Gels with SYBR™ Safe DNA Gel Stain, 2% (Invitrogen™)

E-Gel® 96 Agarose Gels are bufferless, pre-cast gels designed for fast, high-throughput DNA electrophoresis. Each gel contains 96 sample lanes and 8 marker lanes that are ideal for screening multiple PCR products, plasmid preparations, and restriction digests. The unique 96-well staggered-well format provides a 1.6 cm run length that resolves between 100 bp and 10 kb. The E-Gel® 96 loading format is compatible with multi-channel pipettors, and the most commonly used 8-, 12-, and 96-pin liquid handling robots (see figure). With 12-minute run times, up to 20,000 samples can be resolved in a single day.

Advantages of E-Gel® 96 2% with SYBR® Safe DNA Gel Stain
E-Gel® 96 2% with SYBR® Safe offers high-throughput labs performing agarose electrophoresis the option to eliminate the use of ethidium bromide. Unlike ethidium bromide, the DNA stain most commonly incorporated into agarose gels, SYBR® Safe DNA Gel Stain is a nontoxic, nonmutagenic DNA stain that is safer for the user, safer for the environment, and can save institutional overhead costs for disposal. There is no compromise involved with switching to SYBR® Safe. It is the safer alternative to ethidium bromide.

E-Gel™ Double Comb Agarose Gels, 0.8% (Invitrogen™)

E-Gel® Double Comb Gels allow you to resolve 16 samples in just 15 minutes. The E-Gel® double comb gel is supplied in a two-row, mini-gel format. Each row contains 8 sample wells and 1 well for a marker. The spacing between wells is compatible with eight-channel pipettors for easy, high-throughput loading. E-Gels are available in two pack sizes—a Starter Pak (6 E-Gels) or an 18-Pak (18 E-Gels). Agarose percentages (0.8%, 1.2%, and 2%) are general purpose gels and the 4% agarose option is used for high-resolution separation.

The resulting fragment library demonstrates a sharp fragment cut-off, and is ready for use in an NGS workflow without any need for re-purification. Multiple bands from the one loading well can be collected during the same gel run.

DNA fragment libraries extracted from E-Gel SizeSelect II gels is compatible with the Ion Torrent sequencing workflow.

Real-time control of the sample
SYBR Gold II DNA Gel Stain is incorporated into the gel itself, allowing you to visually monitor DNA band migration progress on the blue-light transilluminator of the E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis Device. The gel has reference marks for better control of the sample prior to the sample recovery step. If the target DNA passes the recovery well, the Reverse gel protocol allows for re-capture of the DNA band.

Enables better results
Even a short exposure of your DNA sample to UV light during visualization may lead to DNA damage. Using E-Gel SizeSelect II gels together with the blue-light transilluminator minimizes the risk of UV damage compared to a conventional gel purification workflow. The direct access to your sample from the retrieval well allows you to avoid excising gel band slices and the risk of losing your DNA during a gel purification step.

The Most Senitive Nucleic Acid Stain
E-Gel Go! precast agarose gels utilize the same highly sensitive nucleic acid stain as the E-Gel EX system. This proprietary stain has been specially formulated to provide the highest possible detection sensitivity. The stain in E-Gel Go! precast agarose gels can be visualized with traditional UV transilluminators, but for the very best results and highest sensitivity visible blue light should be used. When using blue light the bands must be viewed through an amber filter. Best of all, the E-Gel Go! Base that runs the E-Gel Go! precast agarose gels has an integrated blue light transilluminator and amber filter lid so you can watch your bands migrate in real time, or document your results right on the Base.

The Right Gel for the Job At Hand
E-Gel Go! precast agarose gels come in two agarose percentages, 1% and 2%. This allows you to choose the best gel for your specific application and size range of interest. For linear double stranded DNA fragments ranging from ~1.5kbp – 100bp in size the 2% gels offer excellent resolution and separation. When you need to resolve larger fragments, up to 4kbp the 1% gels are the optimal solution. In either case, E-Gel Go! precast agarose gels will yield sharp bands and repeatable, reliable results with unparalleled convenience.
