Each gel contains 48 sample wells and 4 marker wells in 1% or 2% high-resolution agarose with a 3.2-cm run length. The various agarose percentages are used to separate DNA fragments of different sizes:

E-Gel® Double Comb Gels allow you to resolve 16 samples in just 15 minutes. The E-Gel® double comb gel is supplied in a two-row, mini-gel format. Each row contains 8 sample wells and 1 well for a marker. The spacing between wells is compatible with eight-channel pipettors for easy, high-throughput loading. E-Gels are available in two pack sizes—a Starter Pak (6 E-Gels) or an 18-Pak (18 E-Gels). Agarose percentages (0.8%, 1.2%, and 2%) are general purpose gels and the 4% agarose option is used for high-resolution separation.

E-Gel® 48 Gels are pre-cast, ready-to-use, 48-well agarose gels designed for medium-throughput resolution of DNA fragments. Each gel contains 48 sample wells and 4 marker wells in 1%, 2%, or 4% high-resolution agarose with a 3.2 cm run length. The various agarose percentages are used to separate DNA fragments of different sizes:

1% agarose gels—DNA fragments between 400 bp and 10 kb

Fast DNA sample isolation in three steps
DNA fragment isolation with E-Gel CloneWell II precast gels is a simple 3-step procedure that eliminates conventional gel purification. To extract the DNA band of interest, load the sample into the loading wells, run the gel until the band reaches the recovery wells, and retrieve the sample. The covered sample is ready for cloning and does not require re-purification. Multiple bands from the one loading well can be collected during the same gel run.

DNA extracted from CloneWell II gels is compatible with common cloning methods such as Anza restriction cloning, TOPO cloning, and Gateway cloning.

Real time control of the sample
SYBR Safe DNA Gel Stain is incorporated into the gel itself, allowing you to visually monitor DNA band migration progress on the blue-light transilluminator of the E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis Device. The gel has reference marks for better control of the sample prior to the sample recovery step. If the target DNA passes the recovery well, the Reverse gel protocol allows for re-capture of the DNA band.

Improved cloning efficiencies
Even a short exposure of your DNA sample to UV light during visualization may lead to DNA damage and reduced cloning efficiencies. Using E-Gel CloneWell II gels together with the blue-light transilluminator minimizes UV damage and improves cloning efficiency when compared to conventional methods.

E-Gel™ 96 Agarose Gels, 2% (Invitrogen™)

E-Gel® 96 Agarose Gels are bufferless, pre-cast gels designed for fast, high-throughput DNA electrophoresis. Each gel contains 96 sample lanes and 8 marker lanes that are ideal for screening multiple PCR products, plasmid preparations, and restriction digests. The unique 96-well staggered-well format provides a 1.6 cm run length that resolves between 100 bp and 10 kb. The E-Gel® 96 loading format is compatible with multi-channel pipettors, and the most commonly used 8-, 12-, and 96-pin liquid handling robots (see figure). With 12-minute run times, up to 20,000 samples can be resolved in a single day.

Alternative format—E-Gel® 96 2% with SYBR® Safe DNA Gel Stain
E-Gel® 96 2% with SYBR® Safe offers high-throughput labs performing agarose electrophoresis the option to eliminate the use of ethidium bromide. Unlike ethidium bromide, the DNA stain most commonly incorporated into agarose gels, SYBR® Safe DNA Gel Stain is a nontoxic, nonmutagenic DNA stain that is safer for the user, safer for the environment, and can save institutional overhead costs for disposal. There is no compromise involved with switching to SYBR® Safe. It is the safer alternative to ethidium bromide.
