E-Gel™ NGS™ 0.8% Agarose Gels (Invitrogen™)

E-Gel NGS 0.8% Agarose Gels are self-contained, pre-cast agarose gels designed to provide fast, convenient, and easy electrophoresis. Each E-Gel agarose gel is ready for use with agarose, electrodes, and SYBR Safe DNA gel stain packaged inside an 11-well, easy-to-open, UV- and blue-light transparent cassette. SYBR Safe stain can be viewed with blue light, which minimizes DNA damage and allows safe, real-time monitoring of DNA migration using the E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis System.

Easy access to the gel
The gel cassette is designed to open with a gel knife, so that the gel inside can be accessed readily for excision of specific bands or transferred to a membrane for Southern blot analysis.

E-Gel NGS gels require the E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis System for running and viewing the gel in real time.

E-Gel™ 48 Agarose Gels, 2% (Invitrogen™)

E-Gel® 48 Gels are pre-cast, ready-to-use, 48-well agarose gels designed for medium-throughput resolution of DNA fragments. Each gel contains 48 sample wells and 4 marker wells in 1%, 2%, or 4% high-resolution agarose with a 3.2 cm run length. The various agarose percentages are used to separate DNA fragments of different sizes:

1% agarose gels—DNA fragments between 400 bp and 10 kb
2% agarose gels—DNA fragments between 50 bp and 3 kb
4% agarsoe gels—DNA fragments between 10 bp and 400 bp

Using E-Gel® 48 Gels
Load the E-Gel® 48 gel with a multi-channel pipettor or robotic liquid handling systems for increased throughput. E-Gel® 48 gels run in mother and daughter E-Base™ integrated power supplies. DNA bands resolve clearly (see figure) in just 20 minutes.

E-Gel™ 96 Agarose Gels, 1% (Invitrogen™)

E-Gel® 96 Agarose Gels are bufferless, pre-cast gels designed for fast, high-throughput DNA electrophoresis. Each gel contains 96 sample lanes and 8 marker lanes that are ideal for screening multiple PCR products, plasmid preparations, and restriction digests. The unique 96-well staggered-well format provides a 1.6 cm run length that resolves between 100 bp and 10 kb. The E-Gel® 96 loading format is compatible with multi-channel pipettors, and the most commonly used 8-, 12-, and 96-pin liquid handling robots (see figure). With 12-minute run times, up to 20,000 samples can be resolved in a single day.

E-Gel™ Agarose Gels with SYBR™ Safe DNA Gel Stain, 1.2% (Invitrogen™)

Invitrogen E-Gel precast agarose gels with SYBR Safe DNA gel stain are designed for fast, convenient, and safe DNA sample electrophoresis. Each E-Gel agarose gel cassette contains all components and stain required for efficient gel separation and analysis—just load your samples and run. E-Gel agarose gels are ideal for analyzing PCR products, restriction digests, plasmid preparations, or for DNA fragment library analysis.

Instantaneous setup—precast E-Gel agarose gels are ready for use when you are, and do not require gel preparation or additional buffers
Safer choice—contains SYBR Safe DNA Stain, a safer alternative to ethidium bromide

Safer option
Choose SYBR Safe DNA stain-containing gels to minimize exposure to hazardous and mutagenic factors such as ethidium bromide or UV. The precast E-Gel agarose gels with SYBR Safe stain, in combination with blue-light trans-illumination, offer better sample integrity and a safer work environment.

Fast and convenient analysis
E-Gel agarose gels enable fast and high-performance analysis with a detection sensitivity of 2–3 ng of sample DNA per band, and a separation time 2–3 fold faster than that of conventional pour-your-own gels. Each E-Gel agarose gel contains agarose, electrodes, SYBR Safe DNA stain, and a bufferless ion exchange system packaged inside a dry disposable cassette. E-Gel technology does not required any gel or buffer preparation or gel straining steps. Just load your samples and run.

Live monitoring of DNA migration
E-Gel agarose gels are pre-stained with SYBR Safe DNA gel stain with an excitation wavelength in the blue-light spectrum. When used on the E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis Device with integrated blue-light trans-illuminator, safe real-time monitoring of DNA migration is enabled without risk to eyes or possible damage to the sample, unlike UV illumination.

For optimal DNA analysis on E-Gel agarose gels we recommend the specially formulated E-Gel 1 Kb Plus Express DNA Ladder (Cat. No: 10488091) or E-Gel 50 bp DNA Ladder (Cat. No. 10488099) or E-Gel Ultra Low DNA Ladder (Cat. No. 10488096). Our high-quality ready-to-use ladders are formulated using individual chromatography-purified DNA fragments and are suitable for storage at room temperature.

Running and imaging devices
E-Gel agarose gels require the Invitrogen E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis Device (Cat. No. G8100) for gel running.

Important note: Ethidium bromide E-Gel agarose gels are not fully compatible with all E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis device and camera features. Due to its use of blue-light trans-illumination, and the incompatibility of the ethidium bromide excitation spectrum with the blue-light wavelength, the real-time view mode will show very low sensitivity. For imaging of ethidium bromide, please use an imager with a UV trans-illuminator.

For the best E-Gel experience and fully functional features, please consider using E-Gel EX or E-Gel SYBR Safe-stained agarose gels.
