Novex™ 10%, Tricine, 1.0 mm, Mini Protein Gel, 10-well Invitrogen™

Invitrogen Novex Tricine Gels provide separation of low molecular weight proteins and peptides. The Tricine system is a modification of the tris-glycine discontinuous buffer system developed by Schaegger and von Jagow (Schaegger and von Jagow, 1987) specifically for resolving peptides and low molecular weight proteins. NativePAGE™ 3 to 12%, Bis-Tris, 1.0 mm, Mini Protein Gel, 10-well Invitrogen™

The Invitrogen NativePAGE Bis-Tris Gel System is a precast polyacrylamide mini-gel system that provides sensitive, high-resolution analysis of native proteins and protein complexes for molecular mass estimations, and assessment of purity. It is based on the blue native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (BN PAGE) technique developed by Schägger and von Jagow, which overcomes the limitations of traditional native electrophoresis by providing a near-neutral operating pH and detergent compatibility.

Features of the NativePAGE Bis-Tris Gel System include:
Wide molecular weight resolving range, from 15 – 10,000 kDa
Neutral-pH separation, which better preserves the native state of protein complexes
Resolution of all proteins in the gel regardless of their isoelectric point (pI)
Ability to analyze membrane-protein complexes in their native conformations
Ability to obtain better resolution than with traditional tris-glycine native electrophoresis

Learn more about the NativePAGE system ›

How NativePAGE Bis-Tris Gels work
In SDS-PAGE, SDS functions as a charge-shift molecule that denatures proteins by conferring on them a net negative charge and enables proteins to migrate towards the anode. BN PAGE uses Coomassie G-250 as the charge-shift molecule, which binds to proteins and confers a net negative charge while maintaining the proteins in their nondenatured, native state. The near-neutral pH of the NativePAGE Bis-Tris Gel System provides maximum stability of both the proteins and the gel matrix, resulting in a highly sensitive method for analysis of native membrane-protein complexes and offering superior band resolution over traditional Tris-glycine gel systems.

For transferring proteins to a membrane, we recommend using NuPAGE Transfer Buffers for traditional wet transfer and PVDF membranes. The NuPAGE transfer buffer maintains the neutral pH environment established during electrophoresis. Nitrocellulose membranes are not compatible for blotting since the membrane will bind the Coomassie G-250 dye very tightly. Alternatively, Rapid semi-dry transfer can be done using the Invitrogen Power Blotter or rapid dry transfer using the iBlot 2 Gel Transfer Device using PVDF membranes.

NuPAGE™ 10%, Bis-Tris, 1.5 mm, Mini Protein Gel, 10-well Invitrogen™

Invitrogen NuPAGE Bis-Tris protein gels are precast polyacrylamide gels that provide broad molecular weight protein separation with high resolution and sample integrity. These precast gels are ideal for applications where protein integrity is crucial. Unlike traditional Tris-glycine gels, NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels have a neutral pH environment that minimizes protein modifications. Use NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels for preparing proteins for sequencing, mass spectrometry, and any other techniques where protein integrity is important. Also use NuPAGE gels to provide optimal results during day-to-day use.

Features of NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels:
Better protein integrity—optimized sample preparation process preserves your proteins
Wide ranges of molecular weight separation—select the right gel and running buffer to get the optimal separation of your proteins
Faster run times—get separation of your proteins in as little as 35 minutes
Longer shelf life—NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels can be stored for at least 12 months at room temperature

Choose the right NuPAGE Bis-Tris gel for your protein separation
Obtain optimal separation of your proteins by choosing the right combination of gel and running buffer. NuPAGE Bis-Tris protein gels come in four polyacrylamide concentrations: 8%, 10%, 12%, and a 4–12% gradient. Gels come in two sizes: mini (8 cm x 8 cm) or midi (8.7 cm x 13.3 cm) and either 1.0 mm (mini and midi gels) or 1.5 mm (mini gel format only) in thickness. NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels also come in multiple well formats.

NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels are formulated for denaturing gel electrophoresis applications. For optimal sample preparation, use the NuPAGE LDS Sample Buffer and NuPAGE Sample Reducing Agent. Use NuPAGE Antioxidant in the running buffer to maintain the reduced state of the proteins during the run and to allow maximum band sharpness. The gels can be run using NuPAGE MES SDS Running Buffer to better resolve small proteins or NuPAGE MOPS SDS Running Buffer to resolve medium- to large-size proteins.

For transfer of proteins to a membrane, we recommend using NuPAGE Transfer Buffer for traditional wet transfer using the Mini Blot Module or XCell II Blot Module. Alternatively, rapid semi-dry transfer can be done using the Invitrogen Power Blotter or rapid dry transfer using the iBlot 2 Gel Transfer Device.
