The Qubit Flex System Verification Assay Kit is a fast, easy-to-use, reagent-based assay that tests the performance of the Qubit Flex Fluorometer. The kit consists of three components: a blank reagent solution, a green fluorescent reagent, and a far-red fluorescent reagent. The green fluorescent reagent is designed to test blue excitation (470 nm LED; 430-495 nm excitation filter) and green fluorescence detection (510-580 nm emission filter). The Qubit 4 Fluorometer can also be used to directly measure the fluorescence of samples using Fluorometer mode. The Qubit 4 Fluorometer is far more sensitive than UV absorbance, which measures anything absorbing at 260 nm, including DNA, RNA, protein, free nucleotides, or excess salts. Moreover, UV spectrophotometry is often not sensitive enough to accurately measure low concentrations of DNA and RNA. With the Qubit fluorometer, your research is enhanced by more accurate measurements because the dyes in the Qubit assay kits fluoresce only when bound to the selected molecule (DNA, RNA or protein) in your sample. This allows you to avoid repeating work due to inaccurate measurements.

Qubit™ RNA IQ Assay Kit Invitrogen™

The Qubit RNA IQ Assay Kit provides a fast, simple method to check whether an RNA sample has degraded using a Qubit 4 or Qubit Flex fluorometer. The assay utilizes two unique dyes: one that binds to large, intact and/or highly structured RNA (mRNA, tRNA, rRNA), and another that selectively binds to small and/or, degraded RNA. Together they enable you to quickly assess the quality and integrity of an RNA sample.

To use, simply add your samples to the RNA IQ working solution, then measure on a Qubit 4 or Qubit Flex fluorometer. Results are presented as an RNA IQ number (RNA IQ#) that indicates the RNA sample integrity and quality, and also as a calculated percent of large and small RNA in the sample. The RNA IQ# is a value from 1 to 10, similar to other RNA quality scores, where a small number indicates that the sample is comprised of mainly small RNA and a larger number indicates that the sample consists of mainly large RNA or RNA with tertiary structure.

Solution-based compared to electrophoresis methods
The RNA IQ assay results correlate well with electrophoretic methods. The primary difference between the solution-based RNA IQ assay and traditional electrophoresis-based techniques is the amount of time it takes to ascertain whether an RNA sample has degraded. Gels are considered easy to perform, but still take time to run. Microfluidic-based methods not only take time to obtain results, but often have lengthy procedures to prepare the samples. Gel or microfluidic-based electrophoresis is still recommended to obtain fragment size information or size distribution of the RNA sample.

Notes:
1. The Qubit RNA IQ Assay will only work on a Qubit 4 or Qubit Flex fluorometer. The assay is not designed for use with Qubit, Qubit 2.0, or Qubit 3 fluorometers.

Qubit™ RNA IQ Standards Invitrogen™

The Qubit RNA IQ (integrity & quality) Assay RNA standards are designed for use with the Qubit RNA IQ Assay Kit. Sufficient amounts of the small and large and/or structured RNA standard required for an IQ standard curve are supplied to perform standards with up to 500 samples. The RNA IQ standards are designed to measure RNA degradation and are not interchangeable with the standards from the RNA quantitation assays, including the Qubit RNA HS, BR, or XR assay kits.

Quant-iT™ RNA XR Assay Kit Invitrogen™

The Quant-iT RNA XR (Extended Range) Assay Kit provides an accurate and selective method for the quantitation of high-abundance RNA samples. The assay is highly selective for RNA and does not quantitate DNA, protein, or free nucleotides. Common contaminants, such as salts, free nucleotides, solvents, detergents, and protein, are well-tolerated in the assay. The assay kit is designed to be accurate for initial RNA sample concentrations of 10 ng/µL to 10,000 ng/µL depending on sample volume, providing a linear detection range of 200–10,000 ng. The kit provides concentrated assay reagent, dilution buffer, and pre-diluted RNA standards. Simply dilute the reagent using the buffer provided, add the sample (any volume between 1 µL and 20 µL is acceptable), and read the concentration using a fluorescent-based microplate reader.

Qubit™ Fluorometer USB Flash Drive Invitrogen™

The Qubit Fluorometer USB Flash Drive is designed for the transfer of data from the Qubit Fluorometer. Only the Qubit 2.0, 3, and 4 fluorometers have an available USB port. Data exported from the Qubit Fluorometer are stored in CSV format and can be opened by programs such as Microsoft Excel.
