Bacto™ Proteose Peptone No. 3 Gibco™

Bacto Proteose Peptone No. 3 is a member of the Bacto Proteose Peptones, which are enzymatic digests of protein. Studies of peptic digests of animal tissue prepared under varying digestion parameters demonstrated that no single peptone is the most suitable nitrogen source for every microbiological application. These findings led to the development of Bacto Proteose Peptone, Bacto Proteose Peptone No. 2, and Bacto Proteose Peptone No. 3. Bacto Proteose Peptone No. 4 is a spray-dried version of Bacto Proteose Peptone.

• Bacto Proteose Peptone is used in preparing microbiological culture media and in producing bacterial toxins

Resurge CD1 Supplement, without glucose and L-glutamine, is a chemically defined supplement formulation to complement a variety of base media. This supplement was developed using several host cell lines and in various culture systems, including shaker flasks and bench-scale bioreactors. Bacto™ Peptone Gibco™

Bacto Peptone is an animal origin (AO) enzymatic digest of bovine and porcine animal proteins. The nutritive value of Bacto Peptone is largely dependent on a combination of a negligible quantity of proteases, high concentration of complex constituents, and a unique amino acid content that makes this peptone a strong nitrogen source. Bacto™ Tryptone Gibco™

Bacto Tryptone is an animal origin (AO) pancreatic digest of casein. It is included in standard methods manual applications and is listed in the Reagent section of the United States Pharmacopeia as meeting the specifications for a pancreatic digest of casein, a component in many of the media listed. The nutritional profile of this supplement is unique in that it provides a range of nutrients. Customers have used this supplement in fermentation applications and shown that it successfully supports the growth of many bacterial species during the production of animal health vaccines, including Escherichia coli, and Fusobacterium and Agrobacterium species when used together with Bacto Yeast Extract.

Acidicase™ Peptone Gibco™

Acidicase Peptone is a hydrochloric acid hydrolysate of casein. The manufacturing process produces a casein hydrolysate, which has a high salt content of approximately 37% and nitrogen content of approximately 8%. The hydrolysis of the casein, a milk protein rich in amino acid nitrogen, is carried out until all the nitrogen is converted to amino acids or other compounds of relative simplicity. Casein contains little cystine and is deficient in tryptophan, which is destroyed by the acid treatment.

Bacto Yeast Extracts are concentrates of the water-soluble portion of autolyzed Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells. They are derived from primary grown baker’s yeast. These animal origin-free products are suitable for use as multi-functional nutritional supplements in mammalian cell culture, microbial fermentation, and insect cell culture applications. Yeast extract provides essential water-soluble vitamins, amino acids, peptides, and carbohydrates to any medium formulation.

Bacto Yeast Extract is one of the most complete and versatile fermentation supplements available. It is an important ingredient for the microbiological assay of vitamins. Bacto Casitone is an animal origin (AO) pancreatic enzymatic digest of casein similar to Difco Casein Digest. While this supplement provides a nutritional profile based on casein, the specific enzymatic digest performed for this product results in a particularly high content of amino acids and peptides of varying sizes, making it a more nutritious hydrolysate. Customers have successfully used this supplement for the production of Escherichia coli-based recombinant proteins.

Difco™ TC Yeastolate, ultra-filtered (UF) Gibco™

Difco TC Yeastolate, ultra-filtered (UF), is an animal origin-free (AOF) product derived from water-soluble portions of autolyzed yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). This product is intended as a nutritional supplement for bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell culture.
