Cultivate fungi and bacteria which utilize sodium nitrate as the sole source of nitrogen with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Modified Czapek Dox Agar (Dehydrated). This solid defined medium is one of the most useful media for the general cultivation of fungi. In the Modified Czapek Dox Agar magnesium glycerophosphate and potassium sulphate replace the magnesium sulphate and potassium phosphate of the original. This modification prevents the precipitation of magnesium phosphate. The medium is also a highly satisfactory substrate for chlamydospore production by Candida albicans 1.
Malt Extract Broth (Dehydrated) Thermo Scientific™
Cultivate molds and yeasts with typical morphology and pigmentation with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Malt Extract Broth (Dehydrated). Mycological peptone in the medium gives a luxuriant growth of yeasts and molds with typical morphology and pigmentation. Due to the acidic nature of the medium, it inhibits the growth of bacteria resulting in improved isolation of yeasts and molds from materials heavily infected with bacteria.
Remel™ TCBS Agar Thermo Scientific™
Thermo Scientific™ Remel TCBS Agar is used for the selective isolation of Vibrio cholerae and other enteropathogenic vibrios.
SS Agar (Dehydrated) Thermo Scientific™
Isolate and identify Salmonella and Shigella species from clinical or food samples with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ SS Agar (Dehydrated). Differentiation of Salmonella and Shigella is achieved by incorporation of lactose in the medium. Organisms which ferment lactose produce acid which, in the presence of the neutral red indicator, results in the formation of red colonies. Salmonella, Shigella, and other non-lactose-fermenting organisms appear as transparent or straw coloured colonies on SS Agar.
