MagMAX™ Cell-Free Total Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit Applied Biosystems™
The magnetic bead–based purification format allows you to easily process a wide range of sample input volumes (1 mL to 6 mL). When used with the KingFisher Duo Prime or KingFisher Flex Magnetic Particle Processor, 6 to 24 plasma samples of 2-mL input volume can be isolated at once. Alternatively, samples can be processed manually with the use of a magnetic stand.
Features of the MagMAX Cell-Free Total Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit include:
• Automation-ready, phenol-free extraction
• Fast procedure allows 6 to 24 samples to be processed in 90 minutes or less when used with the KingFisher Duo Prime or KingFisher Flex Magnetic Particle Processor with a 24 Deep Well Head
• Flexible protocol accommodates sample volume inputs ranging from 1 mL to 6 mL of plasma
• No need for carrier RNA
• Elution volumes ranging from 15 µL to 60 µL
• Compatible with the Oncomine Lung cfTNA Research Assay
Go beyond cell-free DNA and get the total picture
Isolating and analyzing circulating cell-free total nucleic acid (cfTNA) from plasma and other cell-free samples serves as a non-invasive method to detect and monitor targets associated with certain disease states such as cancer.
The first step in attaining this valuable information is efficient nucleic acid isolation that specifically recovers the circulating nucleic acid species that contains information related to the disease state. The importance of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is becoming established, but it may not tell the whole story. Cell-free RNA (cfRNA) sequences serve as critical biomarkers as well in the form of microRNAs and gene fusions. This inclusion of the cfRNA with the cfDNA provides an opportunity for researchers to expand their studies and advance human health.
The MagMAX Cell-Free Total Nucleic Acid kit is developed by the same Thermo Fisher Scientific scientists that brought you the MagMAX Cell-Free DNA Isolation Kit. The difference is the inclusion of all cfRNA species in the eluate, allowing you to increase the amount of information available from a single cell-free sample. Just like the cfDNA Isolation Kit, the cfTNA kit is designed for both manual and automated isolation of nucleic acid from a wide sample volume input range of 1 to 6 mL. The phenol-free, magnetic-bead format makes the kit fully amenable to automated isolation.
Thanks to the scalable format that allows for various sample inputs, it is possible to vary the number of samples processed with a single kit. For example, enough reagents are provided to process 50 samples of 2 mL plasma each. Alternatively, with the same kit it is possible to process 25 samples of 4 mL plasma each. Higher and lower input volumes are possible and the number of samples that can be processed will vary accordingly. This unique product attribute allows you to tailor the product to your specific needs.
Benefits of MagMAX magnetic bead–based purification
Magnetic beads offer many benefits compared to other technologies for isolating nucleic acid. Beads bind the DNA more efficiently than glass-fiber filters, resulting in higher and more consistent yields. Additionally, because filters and vacuum manifolds are not used, there is no risk of filter clogging due to cellular particulates in samples. This clogging issue is of particular concern with protein-rich, large-volume samples such as plasma that are commonly used in circulating cell-free nucleic acid studies.

HiPure Expi anion exchange chromatography for plasmid purification
PureLink™ HiPure Expi plasmid purification kits use a novel, proprietary anion-exchange resin to enable the purification of the highest levels of transfection-grade plasmid DNA. The enhanced resin combines large capacity with fast flow rate, high resolution, and efficient endotoxin removal. Plasmid preparations are typically completed in less than 2 hours with purity equal to two CsCl gradients. PureLink™ HiPure Expi plasmid purification kits enable the quickest process for obtaining the highest amount of transfection-grade plasmid DNA.

PureLink™ Growth Blocks Invitrogen™

MagMAX™ Plant DNA Isolation Kit Thermo Scientific™
The MagMAX™ Plant DNA Isolation Kit is designed for automated high-throughput or manual purification of DNA from a wide variety of plant species. The kit uses MagMAX magnetic bead technology, eliminating the need for phenol/chloroform extraction or alcohol precipitation. The procedures are optimized for the isolation of DNA from 10–100 mg plant samples. DNA yields vary between different species and tissues depending on genome size, ploidy, cell number, age of tissue sample, and storage conditions.
The MagMAX Plant DNA Isolation Kit relies on magnetic bead technology, enabling reproducible yields and robust performance. High binding capacity, uniform particle size, and rapid magnetic response of the beads makes the technology ideal for automated high-throughput nucleic acid purification, as well as for manual purification for low sample throughput. The resulting high-quality DNA is free of proteins, nucleases, and other contaminants or inhibitors, and can be used in a wide range of downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR, or next-generation sequencing. See bar graph below for typical genomic DNA yields from various sources.
Features of the MagMAX Plant DNA Isolation Kit include:

Benefits of MagMAX magnetic bead–based purification
The magnetic bead–based purification format of the kit allows for easy scaling of the number of samples processed either manually with a magnetic stand or with a magnetic particle processor such as the KingFisher™ Duo Prime or KingFisher™ Flex processors.
Magnetic beads offer many benefits compared to other technologies for isolating nucleic acids. Beads bind the RNA and DNA more efficiently than glass fiber filters, resulting in higher and more consistent yields. Additionally, because filters and vacuum manifolds are not used, there is no risk of undigested tissue particulates clogging these items during the extraction process. This clogging issue is of particular concern with fibrous plant tissue samples that that are not fully lysed during the disruption and homogenization steps.
Optimized bead surface chemistry
The Dynabeads™ MyOne™ Carboxylic Acid utilized in the MagMAX Plant DNA Kit has an optimized surface chemistry with high specific surface area that allows efficient kinetics and high sensitivity in nucleic acid capture. These aspects make Dynabeads magnetic technology ideal for the recovery of the DNA targets found in a variety of plant samples. Once captured, the DNA is then eluted in 150 µL and ready for downstream applications.
