Lithium (Li)

Lithium (Li)

Lithium ([He]2s1) (CAS 9439-93-2) is the least reactive of the alkali metals. It is silvery-white, turning yellowish when exposed to moist air. Lithium does not occur free in nature but is combined in most igneous rocks and in many mineral springs. Lithium has the highest specific heat of any solid element, making it useful in heat transfer applications. With a density that is only about half that of water, it is the lightest solid element.
