Strontium (Sr)

Strontium (Sr)

Chemically similar to calcium, strontium (([Kr]5s2) (CAS 7440-24-6) is softer and decomposes in water on contact. Strontium is silvery-white but, when exposed to air, it rapidly becomes yellow and forms an oxide film. In nature, it is found primarily as celestite (SrSO4 and strontianite (SrCO3).
