Rebel and Taplin used this medium to differentiate atypical dermatophytes based on the pigment produced6.

Mallman and Darby1-2 evaluated a variety of wetting agents and determined sodium lauryl sulfate added as a selective agent produced the best results for the detection of coliform group.
