Remel™ Cetrimide Selective Agar (Dehydrated) Thermo Scientific™

Selectively isolate and presumptively identify Psuedomonas aeruginosa and other non-fermentative, gram-negative bacilli using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Cetrimide Selective Agar (Dehydrated). King et al. developed a medium called Tech Agar which was used to enhance pyocyanin production by Psuedomonas1. In 1955, Lowbury described the use of cetrimide in a selective medium for P. aeruginosa2. This formulation is recommended by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the AOAC International (AOAC)3,4. Centrimide Agar has the formula of Tech Agar but is modified by the addition of centrimide.

MRS (ISO) Agar (DeMan, Rogosa and Sharpe) (Dehydrated) Thermo Scientific™

Mallman and Darby1-2 evaluated a variety of wetting agents and determined sodium lauryl sulfate added as a selective agent produced the best results for the detection of coliform group. It comes with an inverted Durhams tube which traps the gas which in turn serves as a presumptive test for the presence of coliforms. This medium is recommended by the American Public Health Association, AOAC International (AOAC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration3-6.

Oxoid Buffered Listeria Enrichment is selective enrichment medium for the detection of Listeria monocytogenes.

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (Dehydrated) Thermo Scientific™

Identify dermatophytes and other fungi and yeasts in clinical specimens and environmental samples with the acidic Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Sabouraud Dextrose Agar.
