After transferring onto a nitrocellulose membrane, what is the best way to store the membrane overnight for probing the next day? Product FAQ

Answer

We recommend rinsing the membrane briefly in water, air drying and store it at room temperature in a ziplock bag. Do not place nitrocellulose in the freezer because it will shatter. Unlike PVDF, nitrocellulose membranes should never be pre-wetted in alcohol as it will cause them to shrivel.

In the Sequencing Analysis software, what is the difference between using the "Show" button in the tool bar and clicking boxes in the "Show" column and when should I use them? Product FAQ

Answer

In the Sequencing Analysis software, in order to display the data, the check box in the Show column needs to be checked next to the samples you wish to display. The "Show" button was designed to automatically check the show boxes for selected samples. You can select the samples by clicking on the row number. Holding down the shift key while clicking on the row number will allow you to select continuous samples, holding the control key while clicking the row number will allow you to select individual samples.

Why is the lot number on my tube different from the lot number on the product box? Product FAQ

Answer

Lot numbers are derived from work orders that the computer generates in order for us to make a product part or a kit. For most products, there are separate work orders for making the bulk products then aliquotting the bulks into tubes and assembling those tubes into kits. As a result, the lot numbers on the tubes are rarely the same as the lot numbers on the box. There are some kits that have one work order for aliquotting all the way through to assembling the boxes (kits) and in these cases, the lot number on the tube will be the same as the lot number on the box. If you look at any of our multi-component kits you will see that none of the lot numbers on the tubes match each other or the number on the box. Most importantly, these numbers are for us in manufacturing to track what went into each kit or sub-component of a kit. For the customer, lot numbers provide a way to report any problem with a particular product.

What does the information in the Connection Diagnostics box of the License Manger's Test Connection option indicate? Product FAQ

Answer

(1) If the Vector NTI Suite applications have a concurrent license not in use, it will indicate the application's name and “License available”.

(2) If one of your licensed applications is not listed/missing (e.g., Vector NTI software, ContigExpress software, etc.), then this means all User Access Seats have been claimed. Please contact your DLS System Administrator to free unused seats.

(3) If none of your licensed applications are listed, all seats have been claimed. Please contact your DLS System Administrator to free unused seats.

(4) If the operating system on your computer was recently reinstalled or upgraded, you might need your former User Access Seat freed-up and made available for your “new” computer to claim it.

(5) If your seat has been denied by the DLS Administrator. (Note: The DLS Administrator can also choose to remove the Denial, thereby reinstating your access to claim a User Access Seat.)
