PrepFiler™ Spin Tubes and Filter Columns, ethylene oxide-treated (Applied Biosystems™)

PrepFiler Spin Tubes and Filter Columns are available here as a separate purchase, providing ordering flexibility and allowing researchers to select only the plastic consumables needed for use with all PrepFiler forensic DNA extraction kits. These kits use magnetic particles with an optimized multi-component surface chemistry to deliver superior DNA yield from most forensic sample types, including body fluids, stains, and swabs of body fluids.

PrepFiler Filter Columns are used for substrate removal, and PrepFiler Spin Tubes are used for sample processing in tube format. The packaged Spin Tubes and Filter Columns are treated with ethylene oxide.

PrepFiler forensic DNA extraction kits contain other components required for DNA recovery from both routine and challenging samples, including removal of PCR inhibitors.

PrepFiler 96-Well Spin Plates and Filter Plates are intended for use with the updated PrepFiler Automated Forensic DNA Extraction Kit, which does not include plastic consumables, providing users the flexibility to order only the plastics consumables they need. cDNA Size Fractionation Columns (Invitrogen™)

cDNA Size Fractionation Columns offer an efficient and convenient method for size-fractioning double-stranded cDNA (1).

• Pre-packed, disposable columns efficiently remove small (<500 bp) cDNAs-including residual adapters, linkers, or other fragments that could interfere with ligation of cDNA to the vector
• Columns size-fractionate cDNA >500 bp

Performance and Quality Testing: Wash time, drop volume during elution of fragments, and the ability to clearly and cleanly separate a mixture of dyes, including xylene cyanol and bromophenol blue, are evaluated.

Antibody Conjugate Purification Kit, 20-50 µg conjugate (Invitrogen™)

Molecular Probes® Antibody Conjugate Purification kits efficiently purify antibody conjugates from unconjugated dye or biotin. This particular kit is optimized for the purification of 20–50 µg of antibody conjugate. Purification is accomplished using an easy-to-assemble size-exclusion spin column containing BioGel® P-6 fine resin. Each kit contains sufficient material for 3 separate purifications, and can also be used to purify proteins with a molecular weight greater than 12 kDa away from unconjugated labels.

Additional Features of this Antibody Conjugate Purification Kit:

• Purified conjugate ready-to-use in ~10 minutes with ~5 minutes of hands-on time

POROS™ GoPure™ PI Pre-packed Column, 0.8 x 10 cm, 5 mL (Thermo Scientific™)

GoPure 0.8 cmD pre-packed columns are intended for the screening of POROS affinity, ion exchange, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) resins or for small scale purification. These pre-packed columns are ready to connect and have the following features:

• Dimensions of 0.8 cmD x 10 cmL, with a nominal bed volume of 5 mL, providing a uniform screening platform
• Direct connection to standard chromatography systems

Pierce™ Centrifuge Columns, 0.8 mL (Thermo Scientific™)

Thermo Scientific Pierce Centrifuge Columns are convenient tools for handling 40 µL to 10 mL of an affinity support for purification.

Column details:

• Made from low protein binding polypropylene for compatibility with protein purification
• Total volume: 800 µL
• Resin volume: 40-400 µL
• Filter type, pore size: Polyethylene filter, ~30 µm pore size
• Receiver tube: Fits standard microcentrifuge tubes
• Caps: O-ring screw-top cap
• Twist-off bottom

Simply add the affinity resin to one of the polypropylene columns, remove the twist-off bottom and allow the resin to pack itself. Then add your sample and allow it to bind to the support and use a centrifuge to efficiently wash away any contaminants and elute your purified protein. Pierce Centrifuge Columns can be used in either spin or gravity-flow format. The spin format reduces sample processing time and makes column washing and elution more efficient. For gravity-flow procedures and when slow processing time is desired for binding steps with dilute samples, Column Extenders can be used to increase the column reservoir capacity. Use the any combination of processing techniques to get the best possible chromatography results.

Pierce™ Dye and Biotin Removal Spin Columns, 0.5 mL (Thermo Scientific™)

The Thermo Scientific Pierce Dye and Biotin Removal columns enable fast and efficient removal of non-reacted fluorescent dyes, biotin, reducing agents, and crosslinkers from protein samples. Removing free-dye after a labeling reaction is often difficult and time-consuming but is essential for accurate determination of dye-to-protein ratios. The Pierce Dye and Biotin Removal resin is highly specialized to produce exceptional protein recoveries while effectively removing non-conjugated fluorescent dyes, biotinylation reagents, reducing agents, and crosslinkers. Using the appropriate amount of sample and buffer conditions, almost any fluorescent dye can be removed with these columns. Even dilute protein samples (25 µg/mL) can be successfully processed to remove dyes, biotin, reducing agents, and crosslinkers and to efficiently recover proteins (>7 kDa). A single 0.5-mL Dye and Biotin Removal Spin Column can process a 50 to 120 µL of sample. This product is not recommended for desalting or buffer exchange.

Spin Columns and Tubes (Invitrogen™)

The Ambion® Spin Columns are for the rapid elution of DNA from agarose gel slices. No electroelution is needed; the columns only require a microcentrifuge. The columns are certified DNase- and RNase-free. 100 units are provided. Simply excise the band of interest from the gel, place it in the spin column, and centrifuge for 5 min! The DNA is forced through the column into the tube below while the agarose is left behind. The DNA is then ready for subsequent manipulations such as restriction enzyme digestion or ligation.

The PureLink® Nucleic Acid Purification Rack is designed for use with columns in the PureLink® HiPure Plasmid Purification Systems. The rack includes both a Collection Tube Rack for holding various sized recovery tubes (Figure 1) and a large-capacity Waste Reservoir. One rack holds as many as 12 miniprep columns, 8 midiprep columns, and 4 maxiprep columns. When you're finished, the Waste Reservoir nests into to the Collection Tube Rack for compact storage.
