New White Paper: Multiscale measuring and modeling of composite polymer tensile response

Our latest white paper, Multiscale Measuring and Modeling of Composite Polymer Tensile Response, is now available.

This study champions the use of upcycled materials and precise characterization techniques, fostering sustainable manufacturing practices and promoting the industrial adoption of eco-friendly composites in the automotive, construction, and aerospace sectors.

Conducted collaboratively by the Institute for Polymer Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Ansys, Waygate Technologies, and 3Dmagination.

Key highlights:

  • Experimental and numerical characterization of 3D printed recycled short carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide 11 (rCF-PA11) composites.
  • Advanced computed tomography and 3D image analysis software for sample characterization.
  • Mechanical testing combined with modeling to predict elastic properties and nonlinear responses.
  • In situ tensile testing performed in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to quantify surface deformation.
