How can I prepare LB-ampicillin using Ampicillin (Cat. No. J60977)?

We recommend the following the instructions to prepare LB-ampicillin:

  1. Dissolve the following in 500 mL dH2O:
    • 5g tryptone
    • 2.5g yeast extract
    • 5.0g NaCl
    • 7.5g agar
    • OR
    • 20g pre-mixed LB agar powder
  2. Boil the solution on a hot plate while stirring for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Autoclave the solution for 20 minutes and let cool to 50-60°C.
  4. Add 25 mg ampicillin and swirl or stir on a hot plate to mix.
  5. Pour approximately 10 mL of molten LB agar into each plate.
  6. Allow plates to solidify for approximately 20 minutes.
