Speaker biography:
Gregory B. Seymann, MD, SFHM graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at UC San Diego. He joined the UCSD faculty in 1997, where he currently works as a hospitalist on both the teaching and direct care services. He is a Clinical Professor and Vice Chief for Academic Affairs in the Division of Hospital Medicine. His academic interests include high-value healthcare, systems-based quality improvement, and performance measurement for hospitals and physicians.
Within the Society for Hospital Medicine, he currently chairs the Performance Measurement Review Committee (PMRC), and has previously served on the Academic Committee and the Public Policy Committee. He is a member of the High Value Practice Academic Alliance, and serves as a co-director and mentor for their Value Innovation Teaching and Leadership (VITAL) program for junior faculty.
Dr. Seymann has led local quality improvement projects investigating the use of procalcitonin for antibiotic stewardship” and he has lectured in numerous occasions about the clinical use of procalcitonin.
In his free time he enjoys his family, his guitar, and exercising in the beautiful San Diego climate.
