Introducing Iliad, a new advanced (S)TEM system with fully integrated, always-in-focus EELS
Location: Great Hall 1 & 2
Time: 1:00pm - 1.45pm

We’re proud to introduce the Thermo Scientific Iliad (S)TEM, a fully integrated advanced analytical (S)TEM platform featuring the new Thermo Scientific EELS Spectrometer and Energy Filter which inherits the advanced optics and high stability of Thermo Scientific Selectris Imaging Filters and adds the NanoPulser electrostatic beam blanker. Iliad combines ground-breaking innovations and deep integration with the microscope optics to provide much-improved EELS data quality and ease of use for a wide variety of applications. Benefits of the design include improved usability for simultaneous EELS and EDX acquisition and ensuring all EELS core-loss spectra are accurately in focus even at high energy loss, which was not possible before. A new Zebra multi-strip dedicated EELS detector was also developed. In this luncheon seminar we will discuss the advantages of close integration of the TEM column optics and EELS filter and show the benefit of Always-in-Focus technology along with other practical applications of the Iliad platform, including MultiEELS mode for analyzing a wide range of elements and acquisition of very high energy loss EELS (XEELS) spectra.
