In this webinar, Developing Structure-Reactivity Relationships for Heterogeneous Catalysts and Sorbents, Dr. Christopher J. Keturakis of Cummin Emission Solutions will walk us through how gas phase chemical reactions can help identify and develop structure-reactivity relationships necessary for material improvement. In order to rationally design improved heterogeneous catalysts or sorbents for specific applications it is necessary to understand how their molecular structure affects the desired chemical outcome. Gas phase chemical reactions occur exclusively at the surface of solid catalysts and sorbents, thus, knowledge of surface molecular structure(s) and any surface reaction intermediates is necessary to develop a structure-reactivity relationship. These fundamentals allow the development of a true reaction mechanism, prediction of performance, and identification of a clear path to improve an existing material.

  • Explore the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane into propylene using a catalyst consisting of a vanadium oxide surface phase on a support
