Thermo Fisher Scientific is retiring the Life Technologies brand. The Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Gibco and Ion Torrent brands remain within the Thermo Fisher Scientific family of brands, alongside the Thermo Scientific brand. The Molecular Probes, Novex and Ambion brands have become product line names under the Invitrogen brand.

We are phasing out, over time, the Life Technologies logo on our packaging and shipping materials and where it appears on our instruments and products. You will begin to see the Thermo Fisher Scientific logo on shipping materials. You will also begin to see new versions of the Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Gibco and Ion Torrent logos—with references to Thermo Fisher Scientific—on product packaging for those brands and on some instruments. You will no longer see the Molecular Probes, Novex and Ambion logos on future product packaging, as these are now product lines under the Invitrogen brand and will transition to packaging with an updated Invitrogen logo. While we refresh our packaging, inside you will find the same high-quality products that are developed, manufactured and supported by the same life sciences team. There are no changes to our products. There are no changes to Thermo Scientific product packaging as a result of this brand transition.

We have begun to retire the Life Technologies brand from our marketing materials. In late July 2015, we will begin to phase in new packaging around the world and expect this process to continue throughout 2016 and beyond. Wherever possible, we will deplete our supply of existing packaging to minimize waste; therefore, over the next year you may see a combination of old and new packaging.

The acquisition of Life Technologies by Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2014 created opportunities for us to simplify our brand architecture and create greater clarity for our customers. We believe our value to you lies in the well-respected brands you know and trust, as well as the choice afforded by one of the most innovative life sciences portfolios in the industry. That is not changing. 

Please refer to the company as Thermo Fisher Scientific. When listing products in materials and methods sections, please use the product name, including the appropriate brand: Thermo Scientific, Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Gibco or Ion Torrent.

No. There are no changes to your vendor or our legal entities as a result of this rebranding.

Website information

Starting August 14, 2015, the lifetechnologies.com domain will switch to thermofisher.com. When you navigate to lifetechnologies.com on and after that date, you will notice that the domain will be changed and the website will be rebranded. You will have a similar online experience with a new look and feel, including the replacement of the Life Technologies logo with the Thermo Fisher Scientific logo. Any bookmarks or direct links you have to pages on the site will continue to work, as we will redirect all traffic.

Yes. You can continue to sign in using your existing lifetechnologies.com username and password. If you forget your password, you will need to use the “forgot password” feature. There is no change to your account information or pricing.

Yes. The entire portfolio of products available on lifetechnologies.com will continue to be available on thermofisher.com.

The web order confirmation and many other pages within thermofisher.com will reflect the name of the company (i.e., Thermo Fisher Scientific) and product branding. Invoices and other transactional documents will reference the appropriate legal entity. This brand transition does not affect our legal entities.

The main navigation drop-downs on thermofisher.com will include links to other Thermo Scientific brand products on thermoscientific.com, where you can find more Thermo Scientific brand products and related technical information.

No. Our catalog numbers are not changing as a result of this rebranding.

No. Our manufacturing processes are not changing as a result of this rebranding.

No. Our quality processes are not changing.

Yes. The brand name and logo on some of our products labels will change. However, the Life Technologies name may remain as the legal entity/manufacturer of the product. There are no changes to our products.

Yes. The brand name and logo on some of our product packaging will change. Wherever possible, we will deplete our supply of existing brand packaging to minimize waste; therefore, over the next year you may see a combination of old and new packaging. 

Yes. The brand name and logo on some of our certificates will change. However, these documents will retain the Life Technologies name as the legal entity/manufacturer, as appropriate. 

Yes. The brand name and logo on some of our (M)SDSs will change. However, the Life Technologies name may remain as the legal entity/manufacturer, as appropriate.

Yes. Product literature created or updated after May 2015 will no longer contain a Life Technologies logo. Instead it will have an updated logo for the appropriate brand as well as a Thermo Fisher Scientific logo. Because we are minimizing waste during our rebranding and because we’re not changing some historical documents on our website, you may continue to see some documents with the Life Technologies logo in circulation.

Yes. The brand name and logo on our shipping boxes will change. We will use a new Thermo Fisher Scientific branded box. Wherever possible, we will deplete our supply of existing shipping boxes to minimize waste; therefore, over the next year you may see a combination of old and new shipping boxes.

No. We are only retiring the Life Technologies brand. As a result, the Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Gibco and Ion Torrent brands have transitioned from Life Technologies to Thermo Fisher Scientific. In addition, the Molecular Probes, Novex and Ambion brands have become product line names under the Invitrogen brand.

There is no change to our products. You will find Molecular Probes products within our Invitrogen product portfolio.

There is no change to our products. You will find Novex products within our Invitrogen product portfolio.

There is no change to our products. You will find the Ambion products within our Invitrogen product portfolio.

There is no change to our products. POROS and CaptureSelect products will transition to the Thermo Scientific portfolio of products starting in late 2015.

If you are ordering from North America or Europe, a number of Thermo Scientific products are currently available on lifetechnologies.com and via Life Technologies legal entities, including Thermo Scientific molecular biology, protein biology and high-content analysis products. Those products will continue to be available through those channels. 

If you are in other parts of the world, Thermo Scientific products are not available through thermofisher.com. Please continue to place orders for those products as you currently do.

Doing business with us

No. There are no changes to our legal entity names as a result of this rebranding. Please continue to submit purchase orders and payments to the same vendor using the same contact information you do today.

Supply center/B2B information

Yes. As previously shared with impacted customers, we are in the process of rebranding our onsite supply program to reflect new branding as Supply Center by Thermo Fisher Scientific. There is no change to our products.

Yes. We will be communicating changes to the look and feel of hosted eCatalogs to impacted customers. There is no change to our products.

Yes. We will be communicating changes to the look and feel of online punchouts to impacted customers. There is no change to our products.

No. As noted in our recent email, we are providing a revised punchout logo; however, there is no change to our Life Technologies legal entities as a result of this rebranding.

No. We are retiring Life Technologies as a brand, but all of your B2B transactions will continue to be with the Life Technologies legal entity via our integration services provider, Liaison. Our teams will manage any updates to connectivity between Liaison and our systems. There is no action or changes required on your part.

Yes. Please update the punchout logo as noted in our email to impacted B2B customers.

Your invoices will continue to be issued by our Life Technologies legal entities. Please continue using your same contacts in finance and elsewhere.
