Currently the FMD Industry Expert for the AgResults FMD Vaccine Challenge Project, Dr. Hammond is a recognized global expert in FMD. As Head of the World Reference Laboratory for FMD (WRLFMD®) he was responsible for the rapid and accurate diagnostic testing and reporting of suspect FMD samples from all over the world. He has provided global surveillance and strategic direction to International Governments and contributed to many national FMD control exercises and real time outbreak situations providing up to date diagnostic, control and vaccine advice.

Proficiency testing and collaboration in supporting laboratory capability in the SEA region : FMD
Caryll Waugh has a BAppSci from University of Canberra, Australia and MSc , PhD from University of Melbourne, Australia. Presently she is the team leader for the Proficiency Testing and Reference Material team at CSIRO/Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP). Through partnerships with national and international agencies, Dr Waugh has visited veterinary diagnostic laboratories in several countries in south-east Asia to provide guidance in QA management and to deliver training in the provision of proficiency testing programs compliant with the relevant standard (ISO17043).
