Gunshot Residue (GSR) analysis plays an important role in determining if a firearm has been used. GSR tests can make use of a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to scan the sample and identify suspect GSR particles. The Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) technique is used to identify if gunshot residue elements like e.g. lead (Pb), Antimony (Sb), and barium (Ba) are present in the sample.
