Dr. Sridevi Devaraj of Texas Children’s Hospital will discuss evaluation of a fast and reliable method for the determination of hemoglobinopathies and thalassemias using high resolution accurate mass (HRAM-MS) mass spectrometry. The assay requires minimal sample preparation and use of flow injection, making it a high-throughput screening approach for hemoglobinopathy diagnosis.

Sridevi Devaraj, Ph.D., DABCC, FRSC is currently the Medical Director for Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care Technology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Pavilion for Women, Professor of Pathology and Immunology and the Director of Clinical Chemistry Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Devaraj completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in India and then completed her fellowship and Board certification in clinical chemistry while at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. To date she has published over 370 original papers and invited reviews in areas of clinical chemistry, diabetes and atherosclerosis, metabolism, and nutrition.
