New multiplex PCR STEC solution outperforms ISO method

The Thermo Scientific™ SureTect™ STEC PCR Assay solution uses multiplex PCR technology for genetic targets for the simultaneous detection of E. coli O157:H7 and other STEC (O26, O103, O111, O145, O45 and O121).

A recent study evaluated performance of the SureTect STEC PCR Assay solution for the detection of STEC from meats compared to the ISO 13136:2012 reference method. It was found that the ISO method returned fewer positive results than the SureTect method for certain types of meat samples.
