Specification sheet: Temperature Controlled Sample Holder

The Phenom desktop SEM covers the imaging of a wide variety of materials. But some samples can’t be analysed without losing some of its original structure, because of the evaporation of water (think of biological or organic samples). The damaging electron beam also causes your samples to deteriorate.

Does this issue sound familiar to you? Have you encountered this problem before? If so, then it is good to know that a temperature controlled sample holder exists to assists you.

A temperature controlled sample holder is designed in a way that the temperature can be adjusted quickly and easily. By cooling or heating the sample — and therefore influencing the humidity around it — you are able to image liquid or highly out-gassing samples or you can minimize or eliminate the beam damage caused on temperature sensitive of soft samples. It allows you to maintain your samples’ original structure, and to prolong its viewing time.
