Elemental and phase analysis of clinker ensures consistent clinker quality, which is the key to high-performance concrete. The determination of the elemental composition of clinker can be achieved using Thermo Scientific XRF instruments. Analysis of phases such as free lime in clinkers and limestone additions in cement by Thermo Scientific XRD analyzers has been extremely useful in controlling the kiln process and the quality of the end product. Mineralogy is important at this stage as well and is measured in the lab by XRD technology.
