High productivity in the most compact design

The new Thermo Scientific Krios G4 Cryo-Transmission Electron Microscope (Cryo-TEM) is the most compact TEM in its class. A thorough redesign of the mechanical base frame and system enclosure reduces microscope height to below 3 meters. This allows the instrument to be installed in labs with a ceiling height below 3.04 m (~10 ft), avoiding costly room renovations.

The Krios G4 Cryo-TEM has improved ergonomics for easier sample exchange. Data acquisition set up is easier and faster thanks to enhanced automation, systematic user guidance and advanced performance monitoring. Simultaneously, the system’s productivity and high-resolution performance have been further enhanced through a combination of new optical modes, improved optical specifications and on-the-fly pre-processing.

Enhanced productivity, high throughput and improved image quality

With improved detector quantum efficiency (DQE) and a 10-times shorter exposure time over the entire spatial frequency range, the Falcon 4 Detector is truly the next generation in direct electron detection. The new optimized chip design is based on the proven large pixel layout of the Falcon product line (14 µm), further improving the unsurpassed low-noise levels and electron localization for reduced coincidence noise. Combined with an increased internal framerate (250 fps), best-in-class images can now be collected with a high throughput.
