Peter Tao – Research Assistant , Neurobiology laboratory, Ocular degeneration research
"The compactness of the instrument most definitely stands out from everything else. Well a lot of things stand out about it but the compactness is the best part for me because coming from a lab where we don't have that much space we want more of it…So everything about the machine is novel. Obviously the touch screen…it's a lot more consumer friendly than the old one. All of those…features stimulate workflow, cutting down on those small steps. Time is very important…in the lab. Yeah every time our samples get contaminated we want to know…and most of the times it means Googling, looking at the papers, asking lab members. And that I guess is old school now because we have the troubleshooting on the NanoDrop One."

Alyssa Grantham – Research Assistant , Neurobiology laboratory - Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis disease research
"… the auto measure makes sampling faster, easier … I try to figure out the fastest way to read samples when I'm short on time. So I'll get one sample ready while one sample's reading. So I can just set it up, I don’t have to click a button to set GO, I just put it (the pedestal arm) back down and my next sample is ready. So I think that would make it a lot easier for me. And I like that it numbers which samples you read. Because if you have 20 all lined up in a row, you can lose track of which one you were reading at the time. So I can just look and say "Oh, No. 5's up" so you know what's next."

"I tend to forget what the (purity) ratio should be. I have a rough idea of what the ratio with protein contamination should be..and this is very helpful to have that extra feature (educational animations) that will correct the concentration for you so what you think your DNA concentration is, is what (the) actual DNA concentration is. That's gonna save a lot of time. Is it worth cleaning up the sample again or can I just carry on with the sample?"
