Detecting low-abundance antigens with even the best conventional dye conjugates can be a challenge, as photobleaching can make it difficult to effectively observe and record staining. Wheat germ agglutinin is a 36,000 molecular weight protein that binds to N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylneuraminic acid (sialic acid) residues of glycoproteins and glycolipids.
