In addition to our custom synthesis options for oligos, primers, probes, and genes, Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a selection of other high-quality, pre-designed DNA primers and oligos. These products include random primers, Oligo (dT) primers, gene specific primers for sequencing, forward and reverse sequencing primers and kits, and the MegaPlex RT Primers and Megaplex Primer Pools developed for assessing expression profiles.

Review our pre-designed, pre-synthesized offerings that are commonly used in a variety of molecular biology and genomic applications ranging from Coronavirus detection, expression analyses, RNAi-based studies, epigenetic research, and next generation sequencing.

Random primers and hexamers

Random primers and hexamers

These are short oligodeoxyribonucleotides with random base sequences (usually [d(N)6]) and are commonly referred to as random primers or hexamers. These are typically used to prime mRNAs with or without poly(A) for cDNA synthesis. These primers are suitable for DNA synthesis using Klenow fragments with DNA templates or for cDNA synthesis using reverse transcriptase with mRNA templates.

Oligo (dT) Primers

Oligo (dT) primers

Typically, Oligo (dT) primers are a string of 12-20 deoxythymidines that anneal to poly(A) tails of eukaryotic mRNAs. These are ideal for constructing cDNA libraries and recommended with reverse transcriptases (RTs) as Superscript IV RT.

Sequencing Primers

Sequencing primers

Short RNA or DNA oligonucleotides are often used as primers in PCR reactions to amplify a specific target or to directly sequence a specific genetic region of interest (Sanger sequencing). Choose from our list of commonly used sequencing primers to initiate your sequencing projects.

Primer Pools

Primer pools

Pools of pre-designed primers can help generate comprehensive expression profiles, especially where assay sensitivity is critically important. The collection of MegaPlex RT Primers and Megaplex Primer Pools significantly enhance the ability to detect microRNAs expressed at low levels with as low as 1 ng of input total RNA.
