37576-Fast-Blocking-Buffersc

A blocking buffer is a solution of irrelevant protein, mixture of proteins, or other compound that passively adsorbs to all remaining binding surfaces of the plate that is not occupied by the coated protein. The blocking buffer is effective if it improves the sensitivity of an assay by reducing background signal and improving the signal-to-noise ratio. The ideal blocking buffer will bind to all potential sites of nonspecific interaction, eliminating background altogether, without altering or obscuring the epitope for antibody binding. We offer a wide variety of easy-to-use and reliable blocking buffers for ELISA applications.

These blocking buffers are also flexible for using in other detection methods (see Table 1), such as WB (western blot), IHC (immunohistochemistry) and nucleic acid detection.

Guide to blocking buffers for ELISA

Ready-to-use 5% solution of nonfat powdered milk in tris-buffered saline (TBS) for Western blot, ELISA, IHC and other detection methods.

Proprietary ready-to-use PBS and TBS formulations of a non-protein compound that are designed to provide effective blocking for membrane-based and plate-based protein detection methods, resulting in extremely low background.

Ready-to-use 10X PBS or TBS solutions of bovine serum albumin for blocking steps in Western blot, ELISA, IHC and nucleic acid detection methods.

Proprietary ready-to-use PBS and TBS formulations of a protein that helps provide exceptional performance and broad compatibility with membrane (Western blot) and 96-well plate (ELISA) assays.

Ready-to-use PBS or TBS solutions of purified casein for blocking steps in Western blot, ELISA, IHC and nucleic acid detection methods.

Ready-to-use PBS and TBS formulations of a glycoprotein that provides helps provide exceptional performance and broad compatibility with membrane (Western blot) and 96-well plate (ELISA) assays.

Casein-based blocking reagent can be used with Western-Light™, Western-Light Plus™, Western-Star™, ELISA-Light™, Southern-Light™, and Southern-Star™ detection systems.
