Invitrogen™ WedgeWell™ Tris-Glycine Gels are precast mini gels for separation of proteins by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) allowing the use of Laemmli sample and running buffers. These gels enable high quality performance and separation of a wide range of proteins into well-resolved bands. WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels are designed for use in our Invitrogen™ Mini Gel Tank.

Increased sample volume capacity of WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels. Band quality with WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels. Protein ladders, purified proteins and E. coli lysate were loaded on an Invitrogen™ WedgeWell™ Tris-Glycine gel, 4–20% gradient, (A) and a supplier 4–20% gradient gel (B). Straighter lanes with better lysate protein band sharpness and resolution are observed on gel (A). Greater protein integrity with WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels. Protein ladder, purified proteins, and E. coli lysate were loaded on a 4–20% gradient WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gel (A) and a supplier 4–20% gradient gel (B). Gel (B) displays numerous low molecular weight protein degradation products below major bands in lanes 3, 4, 7, 8. These are not seen in gel (A). Gel sizes

Novex WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels are available in mini gels (8 cm x 8 cm). Mini gels are available in a 1.0 mm gel and feature the Invitrogen-exclusive WedgeWell feature, giving them the largest sample volume capacity of any mini-sized 1.0mm trick Tris-Glycine gel. Novex WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels come in 10-, 12- and 15-well formats. For loading volumes, see Recommended well loading volumes & sample loads.

Polyacrylamide concentrations

WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels come in a variety of fixed concentrations from 6% to 16%, as well as gradients with ranges of 4–12%, 4–20%, 8–16%, and 10–20%. Each box contains 10 gels. Gel storage and shelf-life

WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels should be stored at 4°C and have a shelf life of up to one year.

Run native or denatured proteins

WedgeWell Tris-Glycine gels do not contain SDS and can be used to run your proteins in native or in denatured form. For denatured proteins, we recommend using Invitrogen™ products such as Novex Tris-Glycine SDS Sample Buffer and Novex Tris-Glycine SDS Running Buffer. For native proteins, we recommend using Novex Tris-Glycine Native Sample Buffer and  Novex Tris-Glycine Native Running Buffer.

Gel transfer

For transferring your proteins to membrane, we recommend using Invitrogen™ products, including: Novex Tris-Glycine Transfer Buffer; transfers can be done using the Mini Blot Module or using the iBlot 2 Dry Blotting System.
