Next-generation sequencing (NGS) continues to dramatically change the speed and cost at which sequencing data become accessible for genetic analysis, the study of human health, and a variety of biotechnology applications. Within NGS, applications like targeted sequencing have emerged as leading technologies for the focused study of genes and other interesting genomic areas. The goal of this software demonstration will be to familiarize the audience with Ion AmpliSeq™ Designer, a free Web-based tool developed to assist in primer design. The demo will guide the participants through the basic steps of generating a primer library that can be used for targeted amplification sequencing. Concepts like gene selection, targeted amplicons, multiplex primer pools, and amplification panels will be covered in the demonstration.

As next-generation sequencing (NGS) becomes more common, the increased adoption and number of applications to which it is applied generates an ever-increasing amount of data to analyze. A common bottleneck for getting pertinent information from this data lies in the bioinformatic processing and interpretive analysis necessary to generate meaningful results. To ease this bottleneck, Ion Reporter™ Software has been developed to allow push-button informatics to algorithmically analyze, richly annotate, powerfully and flexibly filter down to variants of interest, and generate a meaningful and concise report. The goal of this demonstration will be to introduce the latest features of the Ion Reporter™ Software, and demonstrate the simplicity of streamlining routine analysis of DNA variants and documentation of their biological meaning.
