Description

In recent years, the use of molecular tests to diagnose infectious diseases has increased dramatically. Compared to older methods, the ability to accurately diagnose pathogens quickly, simply, and inexpensively is becoming a reality. Among the technologies for detecting a variety of organisms from clinical research specimens, sequencing and qPCR offer great promise. Attend our workshop and gain insight into how QuantStudio™ Dx real-time PCR*, Ion semiconductor sequencing technologies†, and EZValidation™ molecular validation and QC monitoring tools can help shape the future of your laboratory research.

Cancer and inherited disease research using conventional molecular analysis has relied on the detection of single genes. But recognizing the complexity of the genes involved in these diseases has led to a new focus on multigene analysis and gene regulation. Attend our workshop and hear users of sequencing and real-time PCR platforms from Life Technologies describe how they test for inherited diseases and cancer in research samples. Technologies featured in the workshop include:

  • Ion semiconductor sequencing*
  • Ion AmpliSeq™ target selection*
  • TaqMan® miRNA Assays*

Additionally, evidence to support the utility of the Pervenio ™ Lung RS** test in improving risk stratification of early-stage NSCLC patients toward better managing disease will be discussed.

**Laboratory developed test performed by the Life
Technologies CLIA-certified laboratory.

Detailed workshop agenda

Don't Miss the Ion Bus™ Mobile Sequencing Lab

The Ion Bus™ Mobile Sequencing Lab is a fully functioning molecular biology laboratory that supports mobile research experiments, scientific collaborations, education, training, and laboratory demonstrations.

Scientists can perform PCR, real‐time PCR, and next-generation sequencing template preparation in the vehicle, as well as DNA/RNA sequencing applications. Particularly exciting is our addition of the new Ion Proton™ Sequencer—the first benchtop next‐generation sequencer to offer fast, affordable genome-scale sequencing. Don't miss this hands‐on experience.

Featured Products

Life Technologies will have on display a variety of products and technologies for infectious disease diagnostics as well as for inherited disease and cancer clinical research. Stop by our booth to get a closer look and learn more about these products.

Diagnostic Products for Infectious Disease Testing

The new Quidel® molecular pathogen real-time PCR kits for influenza A+B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and human metapneumovirus (hMPV) are fast and accurate, and will simplify your workflow. These kits are FDA-cleared on the Applied Biosystems® 7500 Fast Dx Real-Time PCR Instrument.

AcroMetrix® in vitro diagnostic quality controls assist laboratories with diagnostic assay validations, verifications, operator training, and daily external quality control.

Inherited Disease and Cancer Research Products

Powered by Ion Torrent™ semiconductor chip technology, the Ion Proton™ Sequencer is the first benchtop next-generation sequencer to offer fast and affordable genome-scale sequencing.

Ready-to-use Ion AmpliSeq™ Panels provide extensive gene coverage and are used with the Ion PGM™ Sequencer, the fastest and most affordable benchtop sequencing solution.

TaqMan® Mutation Detection Assays are our most up-to-date technology for detecting cancer-associated sequence variations in research samples.

Flexible qPCR and Sequencing Platforms (IUO)

The QuantStudio™ Dx Real-Time PCR Instrument, which combines flexible throughput with a streamlined workflow, takes you from targeted discovery through confirmation and screening all on a single platform.

3500 Series Dx Genetic Analyzers are currently pending 510(k) clearance, and are extensions of the industry standard Applied Biosystems® capillary electrophoresis platforms, which provide the most reliable, efficient, and widely published technology for DNA sequence analysis.
