Analyze carbonate isotopes in the lab and the field without compromising sensitive equipment or slowing down your workday. Our Carbonate Bundle instrument set enables you to assess small samples in the lab using an isotope ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS) combined with a high-throughput carbonate device, while field data are collected using a laser-based isotope ratio infrared spectrometer (IRIS).

Delta Ray IRIS
Isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS)

In the lab, IRMS is the gold standard for carbonate analysis and produces perfect results from small foraminifera samples. Our Thermo Scientific 253 Plus 10 kV IRMS, when bundled with the Thermo Scientific Kiel IV Carbonate Device, provides you with the best possible data from small sample analysis.

Enjoy the following benefits of this duo, including:

  • A gold standard for small carbonate sample analysis in the lab
  • Stability, sensitivity, and precision
  • Data generation from just 20 μg of sample
Isotope ratio infrared spectrometry (IRIS)

The Thermo Scientific Delta Ray IRIS with URI Connect bundle gives you the opportunity to measure samples immediately and in the field. The IRIS system enables production of δ13C and δ18O data from water, carbonate, DIC, and bulk carbonate samples. It is simple and reliable based on its built-in referencing system, as well as the included and portable reference gas containers. With its ready-to-go software solution, you can start your measurements instantly.

Other benefits of this instrument set include:

  • Portability and simplicity: Use the IRIS in the field and lab
  • Stability, versatility, and precision
  • Data generation from just 200 μg of sample

Benefit from our bundled state-of-the-art carbonate measurement instruments

In the field: Optimize your field trip
  • Measure your DIC samples on-site and in real-time.
  • Manage your sampling methods more efficiently.
  • Measure bulk carbonates on site in real-time.
  • No need to poison samples or transport them back to the lab.
  • Focus on interesting sampling spots, and return with final results.
  • Analyze up to 100 samples per day.
In the lab: Generate precision data quickly
  • Achieve high sample throughput for precision carbonate analysis (46 samples a day).
  • Benefit from total process control and data log files for complete insight into all preparation and measurement processes.

Traditionally, when analyzing carbonates, you go to the sampling site, gather samples, and bring them to the lab. If the samples are no good, you have to return to the field. See how our portable products allow you to bring your lab equipment along with you and analyze your samples wherever you are.
