Visualize Phagocytosis and Endocytosis with New pHrodo™ Red Reagents

The popular pHrodo fluorogenic pH sensor for live cell studies is now available in a microscale size designed for three 20–100 μg labeling reactions. The labeling kit can stably attach pH-sensitive pHrodo Red dye to proteins, cells, antibodies, viruses, and almost any biomolecule, with excellent recovery. pHrodo Red avidin can be used to make conjugates of biotinylated molecules. The versatile pHrodo Red pH sensor dye can be detected with flow cytometry, microscopy, high-throughput screening, or high-content imaging platforms.

Visualizing virus internalization with pHrodo Red dye. CellLight™ MAP4-GFP, a BacMam virus, was labeled with the new pHrodo Red Microscale Labeling Kit. U2OS cells were incubated with labeled virus and imaged the next day. The pHrodo Red–labeled viruses retained functionality: green fluorescence along microtubules labeled with targeted GFP expressed from the BacMam construct can be seen, as can residual pHrodo Red staining from viral remnants.
