Singleplex vs Multiplex: What does the research say?

Date: Wednesday, July 29, 2026  |   Time: 12:30 - 1:00 PM

This microlecture will provide an overview of singleplex and multiplex IgE testing, highlighting their respective roles in clinical allergy diagnostics and research. It will examine key methodological differences and discuss how structured diagnostic algorithms based on singleplex testing can support targeted decision-making, quantitative assessment and longitudinal follow-up, often aligning closely with clinical needs. In parallel, multiplex platforms will be explored for their ability to generate comprehensive sensitization profiles, offering added value in research settings and in advancing understanding of allergy development and sensitization patterns. The session aims to illustrate how these approaches can be used complementarily within modern precision allergology.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate singleplex vs multiplex IgE testing (performance, interpretation)
  2. Understand concept of singleplex-based diagnostic algorithms in clinical decision-making
  3. Recognize the research value of multiplex for sensitization patterns and disease development
