The QKI protein is involved in the regulation of mRNA stability, splicing, and export, which influences the development and differentiation of the nervous system. The QKI gene produces several isoforms, including QKI-5, QKI-6, and QKI-7, each having distinct functions and expression patterns. QKI-5, one of the major isoforms, is primarily located in the nucleus where it regulates RNA processing events essential for cell development and function.
