PDGFRA Antibody (A15785) in Flow
Flow cytometry analysis of PDGFRA in 3T3 cells. Samples were incubated with PDGFRA PE monoclonal antibody (Product # A15785) using a dilution of 6 μg/mL (red-filled histogram). Antibody binds specifically to CD140a expressed on surface of PDGFRA transfected 3T3 cells (upper panel), but not to surface of non-transfected 3T3 cells (lower panel). Level of non-specific binding was assessed using Mouse IgG1 isotype control PE antibody under same conditions (concentration in sample 6 μg/mL, black-dashed histogram).

This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD140a / PDGF-RA, the 170 kDa alpha chain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor, which is widely expressed on a variety of mesenchymal-derived cells and plays pro-proliferative or anti-proliferative roles in various tumors.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase which binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors are mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer or a heterodimer, composed of both platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. Studies in knockout mice, where homozygosity is lethal, indicate that the alpha form of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor is particularly important for kidney development since mice heterozygous for the receptor exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
