The Bcl-2-related proteins interact to apoptosis. Individually or in combination, proteins of this family can initiate or suppress apoptosis. Pro- apoptotic members of the family include Bax, BclxS, Bad, Bak, Bik (NBK), Bill, Hrk, Bok and Bim. Anti- apoptotic proteins include Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, Bcl-w, Mcl-I, Bag-l and Al (Bfl-1).
