Anti-CPS1 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody is effective for the immunodetection of Carbamoyl Phosphate Synthetase I (CPSI), a fatty-acylated 165 kDa enzyme localized in the mitochondrial matrix of rat periportal hepatocytes and epithelial cells of small intestinal villi. The CPS1 enzyme is involved in the first step of the urea cycle, where it catalyzes the synthesis of carbamoyl phosphate from bicarbonate, ATP and ammonia. Inhibition of CPS1 activity results in the inability to fix waste nitrogen, which subsequently causes rising levels of free ammonia that affect the central nervous system.
