FIGURE: 1 / 2
Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please, remember to spin tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from lyophilized material adhering to the cap or sides of the tubes.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Nicotiana benthamiana (transiently expressed)
DCP5 encodes a cytoplasmic RNA granule protein that concentrates in discrete processing bodies (P-bodies), where it colocalizes and physically associates with core mRNA decapping factors including DCP1 and the catalytic decapping enzyme DCP2. The DCP5 protein is built around an N-terminal Lsm domain followed by a Ser/Thr-rich low-complexity region and a C-terminal segment containing two RGG-rich regions separated by an FDF motif, a modular architecture consistent with RNA/protein interactions and ribonucleoprotein condensate assembly. Functionally, genetic and biochemical data support DCP5 as an mRNA decapping activator and P-body nucleator required for efficient decapping in vivo (without directly stimulating DCP2 catalysis in vitro), and as a translational repressor that helps keep selected mRNAs (including seed storage protein transcripts during germination) translationally silent and routed toward decay; more recently, DCP5 has also been shown to participate in transcriptional control of FLOWERING LOCUS C in a mechanism involving phase-separation behavior mediated by prion-like features.
