Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.

Target Information
Dehydrins (DHNs) are plant late embryogenesis abundant (LEA) group 2 proteins that accumulate primarily in the cytosol and nucleus and can also associate peripherally with cellular membranes during water-deficit conditions. Structurally, they are small, highly hydrophilic, intrinsically disordered proteins with a modular architecture defined by conserved sequence motifs: a Lys-rich K-segment (typically represented by the consensus EKKGIMDKIKEKLPG) that can adopt an amphipathic helix upon membrane interaction, and variably present Y- and S-segments (the latter being Ser-rich and commonly phosphorylated), producing multiple domain organizations across the family. Functionally, dehydrins are induced by abiotic stresses such as drought, freezing/cold, and salinity (often in abscisic acid-linked responses) and are supported by biochemical and cell-based evidence to act as stress protectants by stabilizing membranes, shielding proteins (including enzyme cryoprotection), and limiting macromolecular damage under dehydration-associated stresses, with membrane binding largely driven by electrostatic interactions involving K-segments.
