Target Information
The FAM18B gene (Family with Sequence Similarity 18 Member B) is located on chromosome 17q21.31 and encodes a protein whose precise biological functions are not fully characterized. The FAM18 family, to which FAM18B belongs, includes proteins that are presumed to be involved in cellular processes such as signal transduction and intracellular trafficking. Although the specific role of FAM18B remains under investigation, initial studies suggest it may be involved in modulating cellular responses to environmental stimuli and maintaining cellular homeostasis. There is limited research on FAM18B's involvement in disease, but its expression patterns in various tissues, including the brain and reproductive organs, indicate potential roles in neurological and reproductive functions.
