GFM2 Polyclonal Antibody detects GFM2 protein at mitochondria by immunofluorescent analysis. Sample: HeLa cells were fixed in 2% paraformaldehyde/culture medium at 37°C for 30 min. Green: GFM2 protein stained by GFM2 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-78601) diluted at 1:500. Blue: Hoechst 33342 staining.

Target Information
GFM2 is involved in mitochondrial translation, which is crucial for maintaining mitochondrial function and mutations in this system lead to a breakdown in the respiratory chain-oxidative phosphorylation system and to impaired maintenance of mitochondrial DNA. In Eukaryotes contain two protein translational systems, one in the cytoplasm and one in the mitochondria. This gene encodes one of mitochondrial translation elongation factors. Its role in the regulation of normal mitochondrial function and in different disease states attributed to mitochondrial dysfunction is not known. Alternative splicing results in at least three transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
