Immunocytochemistry analysis of GLUT9 in HeLa cells. Samples were incubated with GLUT9 polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-22960) using a dilution of 1:200 dilution overnight at 4°C followed by anti-rabbit Dylight 488 (Green) at a dilution of 1:500. Cells were fixed for 10 minutes using 10% formalin and then permeabilized for 5 minutes using 1X TBS + 0.5% Triton-X100. GLUT9, or SLC2A9, is a member of the SLC2A facilitative glucose transporter family. Members of this family play a significant role in maintaining glucose homeostasis. GLUT9 may play a role in the development and survival of chondrocytes in cartilage matrices. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
