PA3-860 detects HERG in human samples.
PA3-860 has been used successfully in Western blot, immunfluorescence, and immunoprecipitation procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects the ~135 kDa and ~155 kDa forms of HERG.
The PA3-860 immunogen corresponds to a cDNA fragment of HERG encoding 181 amino acid residues from the C-terminus.
The human ether-a-go-go-related gene (HERG) encodes a voltage-gated potassium channel which has an important role in cardiac action potential repolarization in the mammalian heart. Mutations in HERG have been shown to cause chromosome 7-linked congenital long QT syndrome, a disorder associated with delayed cardiac repolarization, prolonged electrocardiographic QT intervals, and the development of ventricular arrhythmias. HERG channels are an important target for many drugs, and have emerged as a significant type of cardiac ion channel.
