PA1-4966 detects LexA protein in E.coli and yeast samples.
PA1-4966 has been successfully used in Western blot, immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemical procedures. It is specific for the ~23 kDa LexA protein.
PA1-4966 immunogen is a highly purified recombinant full size LexA protein.

E. coli LexA protein binds specifically to the SOS-box sequence and represses the genes belonging to the SOS regulon. In response to DNA damage, RecA protein is activated by ssDNA accumulated in the damaged cells and promotes autocleavage of LexA repressor by its coprotease activity. As a result, DNA repair genes are induced, which utilize error prone polymerases that often result in DNA mutations. Also, the lexA gene is used for yeast two-hybrid experiments as a bait to identify protein-protein interaction in vivo.
