Rhodopsin Antibody (MA5-45244) in IHC
Immunohistochemistry analysis using retina. Samples were incubated with Rhodopsin monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-45244) at 1:1,000, followed by FITC Goat Anti-Mouse (green). Counterstain used was DAPI (blue) nuclear stain. Localization: Staining of photoreceptor outer segment (OS). Other layers of the retina: IS – inner segment; ONL – outer nuclear layer; OPL – outer plexiform layer; INL – inner nuclear layer; IPL – inner plexiform layer; GCL – ganglion cell layer.

1 µg/mL of MA5-45244 was sufficient for detection of rhodopsin in 10 µg of rat eye lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.|Detects approximately 40kDa. Binds specifically to the N-terminus of Rhodopsin. Does not detect Rhodopsin in invertebrates.
Target Information
Visual pigments such as rhodopsin and porphyropsin are light-absorbing molecules that mediate vision. Rhodopsin consists of an apoprotein, opsin, covalently linked to 11-cis-retinal. This receptor is coupled to the activation of phospholipase C. Porphyropsin consists of opsin covalently linked to 11-cis 3,4-didehydroretinal.
